Wound Care

Debbie
Christman with WCC patient Larry Lyttle
The Center for Hyperbaric
Medicine can take care
of the
wound care needs of most patients. The
Center provides wound dressings
and
evaluation of wound improvement
weekly by the
Center's wound care
nurse and hyperbaric physician.
Many of The Center for
Hyperbaric Medicine's
patient's have been
referred from and continue to
be seen
at the Wound Care Clinic for
wound
management. The Center for Hyperbaric
Medicine
and the Wound Care Clinic will
work to coordinate
care to
ensure patients do not miss appointments
in either facility.
In complex wounds and wounds that
need
debridement, The Center for Hyperbaric
Medicine
may refer patients to the
Wound Care Clinic if
a patient does
not have a primary physician
managing
their wound.
The Wound Care Clinic is
located directly
beside The Center for
Hyperbaric Medicine at
St. Francis Hospital.
The staff of the Wound Care
Clinic
is comprised of wound care nurses and
physicians specially trained to deal
with complex
and hard to heal wounds
that have been resistant
to other forms
of treatment.
Chronic wounds caused
by diabetes, poor
circulation, or other
causes that require a
comprehensive
wound healing and management
plan are
seen by the Wound Care Clinic.
The Wound Care Clinic provides
treatment,
evaluates wound progress, and makes
any
changes that may be needed in
your healing
program. The staff also will
provide you or
your care giver with
instructions regarding
in home care, dressing
(bandage) changes
and how to protect the
wound from further
injury.
